FEATURED: KRISTINE SA
kristinesa.com: Just a few months after the release of her debut album, "I Never Knew", Kristine Sa stands as one of Asian-America's brightest hopes to make it in mainstream pop music. With her recent release, Kristine has caught the attention of media and fans all over the US and as far away as Taiwan, Australia, and the UK. Even radio, a medium that has been notoriously devoid of Asian-American music in all but a few select areas, has caught on, and XM satellite radio channel 29 UPOP, mix shows, and college radio stations around the nation have begun to put Kristine's songs into rotation.
EDITORIAL: LOVE IS...
zandd.com: With summer drawing to a close and autumn being ushered in with the coloring of the leaves, it seems that one topic dwells on the minds of nearly every one in my immediate circle, and that topic is love. Whether it is a summer love, a lost love, or a love never-to-be-found, it is the topic of choice. The irony is that given its status as the most universal concept amongst congniscent beings, its mechanics and parameters remain as abstract and undefined as the mathematical dilemma of any quantity divided by zero. For this reason amongst countless others, I have pled the Fifth in regards to matters of the heart. That is until now.
HE SAID, SHE SAID: THE DATING GAME
zandd.com: HE SAID: Korean girls, I love them and I love to hate them. I mean how can they be so fine (in some cases), and yet such pains in the buttocks. It is one of the eternal mysteries, as baffling as the pyramids of Egypt; either that, or us guys are really dumb. After all these years of watching, arguing, observing, arguing, dating, and arguing, I think that I have Korean girls figured out, and they all break down into a few distinct categories. Now I know in this day and age of political correctness that generalizations are frowned upon. Well, that just makes this all the better.
SPECIAL SUBMISSION: TO PRAISE THE LORD?
zandd.com: I have always thought of church as a place where individuals could unite as a community, as one body for the purpose of worshiping Jesus Christ. As a child, I enjoyed going to church because we would sing, pray, and color. Every time I was at church, I would watch the youth group doing their worship and hoped that one day I, too, would be old enough to participate.
CRASH CART: GO GO GRANDPA
zandd.com: One thing I find to be rather funny is the sight of elderly people who drive fast. It just surprises me. I suppose the surprise is why I like it and why I find it funny.
THE RIPPER: THE RIPPER'S GUIDE TO COLLEGE LIFE
zandd.com: When you first start college, I figure that you should not get too close with anyone during the first one and a half semesters. It usually takes that long to weed out all the losers who will flunk out and return home marred in shame. I love how they seem so surprised and indignant as the letter arrives from the dean calling for their academic dismissal. Did they really expect to pass without ever once going to class?
THE PESSIMISTIC WORRIER: HIGH EXPECTATIONS
zandd.com: Having been in college for a while now, I have seen many college girls and guys worry over their perfect guy or perfect girl. This is especially more prevalent among girls who have this burning desire to find their perfect guy. They spend hours looking in front of the mirror to look good for the guys. Many of them have grand expectations that would break many guys' hearts. A typical guy they seem to want is a tall, slender, and handsome man who is kind with generous with money; someone with a really nice car, and who will soon be attending a law, medical, or dental school somewhere in the East Coast.
LIFE IN HIGHSCHOOL: QUESTIONS ABOUT CHURCH
zandd.com: As the summer fades, all is stripped away...and I simply come, longing just to keep something that's of worth...that will keep my summer alive...
IN BETWEEN HORIZONS: PUTTING THE DUALITY IN INDIVIDUALITY
zandd.com: In college you are bound to meet some interesting characters and people who really stand out in your mind. And so of course in my own college, there are more than a few of these people, both students and town members. Two in particular tend to stand out in my mind. They both are people who speak their minds freely and in doing so, are thought of as weird, annoying, and an oddity.
DISPOSABLE INSIGHTS: LOSING MY RELIGION
zandd.com: The view from here on top of the Empire State building always blows me away. The galaxy of unending lights makes me step back and realize how amazing this country is. This is America. Land of the free. Home of the brave. And there's the Statue of Liberty out in the distance, the sight that has inspired immigrants for the last hundred years.
